Nearly twenty-five thousand households in Queensland's southeast woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems swept through the area, producing strong winds topping 109km/h.

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along significant areas of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.
The following day was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both states.
