Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early candidates in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.
Pereira was sacked on Sunday after the squad's 10-match without a victory start to the top-flight season.
Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous associations to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the Wolves ownership.
Edwards is currently at another club, which would create a possible obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.
Nevertheless the former Luton Town manager - who played over a century of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.
The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the club directors as they start the process of appointing a new manager.
O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise candidate, although he would be a surprising appointment given he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.
The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
