The Renowned Musician Encourages Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A charity drive is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The project seeks to send support to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“It occupies a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The track was produced in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of artists appearing on Lullaby features a selection of well-known figures from the industry. All participated in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes.
Production and Release
Lullaby was crafted by a group of music creators. The song showcases a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the campaign have clarified that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These donations will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a spokesperson commented. “We aim for as much as possible. Obviously, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The situation in the territory was noted for its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is first of all making this cause better known and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from mid-December.
